Risk-type games aren't really made for one versus one. It seems like the results of the 1v1 games are based mostly, sometimes completely, on luck. For example, if you have all of your armies concentrated on a continent while your enemy has his armies all spread apart when the game starts, and you can take over the said continent and gain an advantage early game, your opponent is basically screwed.
I think that new maps with different attacking and army fortification rules should be made for 1v1 games. Although I don't have a specific idea, I'm sure some group could think of something. Maybe to start off, think about 1v1 games, like Chess, or Checkers, etc. Those types of games require strategy, and I think strategy and thinking are what most people play conquer club for, not to check whether they have positive or negative karma for the day.
