New deadbeat rule?

So, I sort of understand why you shouldn't get kicked out for missing one or even two turns in a row even if those are the first turns of the game. Things happen.

However, requiring 3 consecutive missed turns to be kicked out of a game seems too much. What if it was something like 3 out of 5 missed turns?

I'm currently in a game where a guy missed his first 2 turns, then took his 3rd, missed his 4th, and has taken 17 and (so far) 21 hours to take his next 2 (assuming he actually makes the second one). If dude misses this turn, he'll still need to miss two more in a row before getting 86ed despite the fact that he's pretty much shown he has no intention of making an honest effort.

Of course, we could start ganging up on him to get him out of the game, but it just so happens that he's not occupying any territories anyone wants and only has one card. Besides, though it is terminator, he's a newb so there aren't many points to be had.

At the end of the day, getting kicked out of a game is not some horrible consequence (at least to those who show this lack of regard for the game). In fact, in terminator games (such as this one is), you don't even lose any points correct? Why not make that a more frequent penalty?

Can I get a witness here?

Seriously, is there a good argument against this?

Deadbeats do lose points in terminator games, but you still have to eliminate all their armies to get them.

I personally don't like your idea, because there's no possible way for the computer to tell who is missing turns on purpose, or who is really missing them because of real life issues.

I don't understand why intent even needs to be an issue. There is, after all, no way to determine whether someone has intentionally missed 3 turns in a row. However, it is rather accepted that at that point, they've demonstrated that they either have no intention of playing the game or are unable to do so in a timely manner.

So maybe this person is engaged with something very serious which has hindered their ability to make a bunch of their turns in a timely manner. I'm sure any honorable person would be fine with getting booted and losing precious rankings points. Because the same sort of person who might care about their rating would (or at least should) also have enough respect for the game that they wouldn't want a game to drag on endlessly because of them.

However, I don't think it's a bold assumption that people who actually care about the game almost never miss a bunch of turns in a game. Those of us who care about these games find someone to fill in if it seems like real life is going to prohibit making our moves.

So, in general, you are arguing on behalf of people who don't really care about these games. You are protecting them at the expense of everyone else. The game I referenced earlier has only finished it's 7th round and one player has missed 4 turns already. That seems to be an unacceptable ratio and shows a lack of regard for the spirit of the game.
