Sudden Death mode

Postby ChaoticWraith on Mon May 14, 2007 12:03 pm

<Subject>: Sudden Death mode

* Inspired by Gunbound's sudden death mode where if the game goes on too long the game mode changes so that you attack twice in one round or do greater area effect.

<Body>:

* Suggestion Idea: Activate sudden death mode after a certain
number of rounds giving attackers a better
advantage

* Specifics: Activates after a number of rounds unsure what would be
best yet

1) Increase attacker's odds of killing defender die

a) Give attackers a fourth die so attackers get 4 dice and defenders get 2 dice

b) Change the way the dice works. When attackers face defenders if the attacker and defender both role the same number the defender and attacker both lose a unit. Of course though it would only work if there was one more attacker die than there are defender's die otherwise default.

2) Multiply the number of units received

a) Can be for all bonuses received for continents and territory bonuses.

b) Only multiply the bonuses received for territories

Could be more sudden death modes, but these are just a few that i can spawn off the top of my head at the moment. Feel free to add in own sudden death modes or modify

* Why it is needed: This helps to make games finish a lot faster because games can go on insanely long for certain maps.

* Priority** (1-5): I want to say 5, but might as well say a 2

Try a poll.

I don't care to much for the idea.... Unless it is in its own game option.... Put up a POLL

Way to much of an advantage for whoever got the first turn in that mode.

This definitely ought not be a standard setting for games. It's just fundamentally not Risk.
As an added option I guess it could be cool, y'know, to let players play quick games. But it'd certainly only be a discretionary feature, and if Lack even liked it, then it's sure to be at the absolute bottom of his schedule...

ya, I agree it's not risk and of course it would be a discretionary feature, but is this site supposed to be true to risk from the rules and the way the map works. We have already implemented some rules that deviate from what you would call true risk with the implementation of freestyle mode because no way in hell can all 6 people play at the same time on the board. Then we have maps that require continents to share a piece of land together and if one person on that land than the others can't get the bonus like in the case of space and 8 thoughts.

If you are going to disagree that it is not going to work. At least explain why it won't work that way we can actually have a discussion about why it doesn't work or vice versa. Otherwise we clutter the boards with useless posts that contribute nothing.
