The rules are simple. but would change the dynamics of the game slightly and being an option you don't have to join a game with it turned on.
Both attacker and defender get the modification, with similar rules to now (same dice generation), however it would/might reduce anguish when attacking with larger stacks. i.e. the 17 vs 1 and almost losing them all (although this won't guarantee it), it happens frequently not that I moan about it when on the defending side. The below outlines crux of the suggestion.
Attacking:
- 2 Troops = 2 dice
- 4 Troops = 3 dice
- 8 Troops = 4 dice
- 16 Troops = 5 dice
- 32 Troops = 6 dice
- 64 Troops = 7 dice
- 128 Troops = 8 dice
- Etc
Defending:
As per the same rules as the basic game two dice but increases over 8, so the exponential is missed at 4 troops.
- 2 Troops = 2 dice
- 8 Troops = 3 dice
- 16 Troops = 4 dice
- 32 Troops = 5 dice
- 64 Troops = 6 dice
- 128 Troops = 7 dice
- Etc
By playing this way, it gives the attacker an element of those extra troops really helping from.
Negatives: It does mean a longer game with multi players building up before attacking and also fortifing positions will be harder to take... Also spoils can have more impact if deployed as a whole, so the luck of the spoils recieved will potentially effect the game more. (some might argue this is a positive)
Positives:
More/different strategic thinking
More realistic as the largest force always has the battle advantage, but the defence can now have a bigger weighting, timing will be all importaint as ever...
Deployment would be more considered.
I am not saying lets change the way all games work, I am putting forward the motion that this is an conquer club option. variety is the spice of life and all that.
Please give this your consideration and please your opinions. If you still want to play with standard number of dice, then great or another option to think about!
