Points calculator placed in player profiles

Postby cpurcell on Sun Jul 18, 2010 10:43 pm

Concise description:
  • Similar to the "show all games together" tab under on a players profile, there would be a button that would say "show win/loss of points vs. player"

Specifics/Details:
  • Once the button would be pressed, the calculations would be done, and the # of points that you would win if you defeat the player, and # of points that you would lose if you were defeated by this player would be displayed.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It would make it more convenient for players to see how many points they would win or lose against a specific opponent, and save the time of having to run the calculations yourself.

If I'm not mistaken, the "Show all games together" link is brought to you by BOB (I think?).

You may be right... I wouldn't mind if this was a plugin though either.

Well we all have at least some sort of idea how many points we'll lose, i.e. if I lose to you, I'll lose a crap load more points than I would if I lost to Blitz. I didn't even have to run any calculations to figure that out  But I don't know how many points I'd win or lose by beating or losing to either of you, for that, I'd have to sit down with a calculator. Aren't you ever curious to find out exactly how many points you'd win or lose by beating or losing to a certain player?

Do that many people actually bother with running calculations like this? Other than for farming purposes...why? I don't get it.

(Note that I am NOT calling you a farmer.)

No...not really. I'd just rather spend my time playing as many different people on as many different maps as I can.

it would be convenient, but honestly if you're decent at math you can estimate to within 10 points for most players what you'll gain or lose, so not really necessary.

It would take a pretty damn large rank discrepancy to have a point gain under 10. So yes, I would agree it's pretty easy to guess within a 10 point swing, lol.
