The Hive Medal

Postby thegreekdog on Wed Mar 24, 2010 4:28 pm

The Hive Medal
  • A medal should be granted for completing and/or winning a non-escalating game on the Hive map.

Specifics:
  • Bronze - Participating in a no card or flat rate card game on The Hive
  • Silver - Finishing a no card or flat rate card game on The Hive
  • Gold - Winning a no card or flat rate card game on The Hive

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • More people will play The Hive map

I'm deadly serious about this.

You're deadly serious????
Why should people get a silver medal just for sitting in a game for a couple of months? No medals are specific to a map, there is no way Hive should get one, this is a completely retarded idea

Forget the Hive... but what if there were medals for winning on a small map or a large map? Two new medals, for two totally different skills.

This is most definitely a very good suggestion, because thegreekdog does not post spurious suggestions, which would result in a warning or a ban.

Haha this was funny.
To be honest I was so excited when The Hive map was on process over the map foundry but when it came out to live play well... I'm just disappointed about the gameplay experience.

First of all, "this is the most absurd suggestion I have ever seen" is actually a comment.

Secondly, why is it absurd?

I actually and truthfully really like The Hive map. I just finished a flat rate (unlimited fort game). I'm in another one (no cards, chained forts) that's taking a little bit of time.

OMFG thank you...its like when people say "I'm not going to dignify that with a response" or something of that nature, as it is a response and pisses me off immensely

correct
darkangelsguy205 wrote:everyone will just throw the game to get the meadl

correct

The gold would take about 1 week
step by step:
1. join Medal Heads
2. get a group of 8 people
3. play 8 games
4. 7 people throw every game, giving each game to a different predetermined winner
5. you have your golds!!

Everybody likes different maps, so everybody plays on different maps. If this were a medal, then everyone would say "20 wins on (fill in a map) is a gold medal" for every other map in the game. If you are able to win a good percentage of 8 player, no card/flat Hive games, I congratulate you, but that does not mean you deserve a medal.
All of the high ranking players get really good just a couple of maps/settings. If you want to be rewarded for your skill on Hive building games, play very few other games and your ranking will skyrocket. It's nearly impossible to even stay a General if you play on a lot of maps with a lot of settings (see KingofGods), he was the Conqueror less than a week ago, he is now a MAJOR.

Interesting step by step process.

So, we have medals for other stuff right? Like terminator medals and standard win medals? Is that how people win medals in those games? Get a group of 8 people, play 8 games, 7 people throw every game, giving each game to a predetermined winner, you have your medals.

No, using your terminator example, you need to beat 400 UNIQUE opponents to get the gold. So you would need a group of 401 people, a bit different. The terminator gold requires a minimum of 50 wins on terminator, and thats if you only play 8 player, and you don't play anybody twice. This achievement is just slightly more challenging than winning 1 8 player Hive game, especially if you use the above method or something like it.

I don't think this will ever be implemented. People would then want a Medal for playing AssDoodles, and other maps.
