Forum contributions tracker

Postby Halmir on Sun Jan 10, 2010 6:14 pm

Concise description:
  • I, like so many others, come on here, and generously share my wisdom. However when I next venture back in here, there's 20,000 other posts and it's hard to see what I've said and where, especially if I didn't create the original!

Specifics:
  • Add 2 new functions: 1) a "Find my threads I created" button 2) 2 "find threads I've replied to" button. Add them where u like, just tell me where they are :D

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • if I've contributed to something, I'm generally interested enough in the discussion to follow it further, but it's hard to do so in the midst of so much other chatter. This would help us all keep involved in such things.
  • also helps Mods track things that they either like the look of, or want to keep an eye on!
  • PS - apologies if I don't respond to any replies right away, it's kinda hard to keep a track of my forum contributions........... :)

I think those functions are already implemented, just not the one click buttons.

Upper right corner of any CC page -> Advanced Search -> Second field from top "Search for author", enter your own username -> Check "Display results as: Topics"
Voila, all threads you've replied to.

If you only want threads you created, additionally check "Search Within: First post of topics only".

That's pretty helpful, thanks!

Of course a button would be nicer but I'll call it quits on this occasion :)

It's a lot easier than that! Just click on "the View your posts" link in the upper right to see a list of every topic that contains your own personal nuggets of wisdom.

Similarly, if you replied to a thread there will be a * next to it. And if you go into that thread it will jump to the first new post from when you last visited. I find this feature to be particularly helpful.
