Speed/Casual hybrid

Postby Hornet95 on Sun Jun 14, 2009 3:15 pm

Concise description:
  • Hybrid Speed/Casual Game - Starts off on speed settings for first five rounds, then turns casual.

Specifics:
  • Hybrid Setting - First five rounds are played as speed game, then it turns to casual. (If everyone still wants to play fast, you can still play fast unless there is someone that has to leave.)

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • I get a one hour lunch. I also have other people at home that want on the computer. I can guarantee 30 or 60 minute blocks of time to have the computer to myself, but generally no more. This is fine for a typical 1v1 or 3 player game that doesn't go into a long game. But, it's not good when that game goes into 'extra innings' or when the other people in the home suddenly have an urgent need for the computer.
  • Could label these Quick Start games or Get Initial Strategy Out of the Way games.

Sounds like a good idea, and i dont see why not? Then maybe you can choose the # of turns that the game stays speed. But I think that they are working on implementing a "change speed games to casual" button and that may solve your problem.

The best,

This. A better and more general solution (and hence more likely to come true ;)). Good thought though.

That could get annoying though, do all players need to push the button or just one? If all need to it would be unfair on hornet in this case. However if just one person needed to press it it would be unfair on those who want to play speed games.

Anyway none of this matters to me since I am freemium.

That's a wonderful idea, maybe it could be like private games, only premiums can start them but freemiums can play
