Deadbeating newbies should drop after 1 or 2 turns

Postby mkohary on Mon May 25, 2009 5:19 pm

Concise description:
  • Newbies (players with 0 games played) should drop after missing 1, or maybe 2 turns.

IMO, this would improve the game, because it's not infrequent to create a game, only to have a ? with no games played join it and never take a single turn. Those players should be dropped immediately, because otherwise it's 3 days until the other players can get going. Especially for non-paying players, who only have 4 games to play at a time, this would be huge.

I figure if you join the site, join a game and then don't take a turn on the same day, you've either forgotten about the site or lost interest before even starting. If you were actually interested, you would have played that first turn. I could see not doing this for newbies who initially take a turn, or letting them slide for 2 turns. But I really think that first missed turn is a pretty good indication that they're not coming back.

before i went premium i felt the same way. now i can play lots of games so it doesnt matter much if a few of them drag out. But when i first joined the site, i had 4 games and they were all dragged out by exactly what you are talking about. In one game, this ? noob missed his first 2 turns, took a turn, then missed 3 in a row. I wanted to track him down steven seagal style lol.

But i dont see the site implementing this, if you have already waited for 2 turns, then 1 more isnt gonna kill ya. It'll Frustrate you for sure, but you'll get over it
