New medal ! [8 player victory medals]

Postby ManBungalow on Mon Dec 15, 2008 5:01 pm

Concise description:
  • Awarded to anyone who has won the neccesary number of Standard, 8 player games :)

Specifics:
  • The more 8 ways you win, the more medals you get (I'm not sure how many you would need for bronze/silver/gold)

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • By encouraging people to play more 8 player games
  • More chances for medals keep players interested!
  • Allows players to brag about their amazing victories ;)

Why just standard 8 player games?

Because 8 way assassin games seem to depend on luck sometimes, and winning a terminator game doesn't mean you eliminated everyone in it yourself... :\

Maybe they could count.

Any thoughts ?

Thoughts?

I think there have been way better suggestions for medals, and this fits out of the others. They are all for a type of game, not a combination of game types like this one is. Why change the concept of medals by making them more specific? Shall we make a 2 player, 3 player, 4 player... medal for all the game types, then? You play them all differently.

Secondly, you don't have to eliminate everyone else in a standard game either to win. Same as a terminator, so that last comment bears no meaning.

P.S. I think the higher powers decided to not create more medals until it was obvious that these were not enough. To be honest... 3 people maxing out is nowhere near enough to show that there is a lack of medals.

True enough that the different number-of-players does change the strategy. Personally, I don't see why NOT have many (such as you suggest).

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Everyone else MUST be eliminated from a standard game in order to win. You personally don't have to do the "eliminating" (other than eliminating the final opponent), but they must all be beaten. Is it the same for terminator games (I don't know, as I don't play them)?

I would agree that doesn't mean there is a lack of medals. My feeling though would be...what does it hurt? I don't personally particularly care about medals, but this specific suggestion I would probably like since I do happen to play a lot of 8-player games and am of the opinion that they require the most skill to win. Of course, I'm probably biased in that belief. (smile)

8 way assassins I would say (as long as they aren't on a rediculously small map) are more skilful, but they take less time to complete

I don't think medals should be so specific.

8 man standard is almost the same as 8 man terminator in gameplay (unless you are playing for points, not to win).
8 man standard is almost the same as 7 man standard

Also, why not make a medal for 2 player? That is different from everything.
3 player? Who can make sure he is not the one ganged up on.
4-6 player?

Then do this for terminator, assassin, and doubles (2v2, 2v2v2, 2v2v2v2)...

All of those are equally different from each other. So if one deserves a medal, why not the rest? I don't think we should add 15 more medals to the 9 we have already. It would be like displaying every single game you won in your sig... some people show one or two because they were amazing victories, but if there is every single game, no one will care to even look to see how many there are. Same with medals.
