Fog of war to show colored ?'s

Postby nester on Fri Dec 12, 2008 10:02 am

Specifics:
  • Allow players to see colored ?'s for fog of war games but not troop numbers

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • I looked at other ideas for fog of war and it seems that players would like to watch games, but cant really understand what is going on without reading the log and just guessing. Any way that lifts the fog for players not in the game can be abused so ideas are rejected.
  • What I purpose is that all players in the game (or just all players...whatever, doesn't matter) CAN see the ?'s colored for who owns the property/country, but CANNOT see the troop numbers (unless you are in the game, and border the country in question).
  • Possibly this could be another option in the fog of war (like Sunny, Cloudy, Night, instead of Yes/No). Personally I like it the way it is when I am in the game... but would not mind if my locations were colored. When I am out of the game I hate the way it is now, but doesn't really matter because I already lost.

P.S. I hope this has not been suggested already. I searched "fog" the forums and got 0 results, so I read about 10 pages of requests and did not see this suggestion... I did read 3 others about ways to lift the fog.

I don't like the color ?s. I understand what your trying to accomplish but it gives additional information to the people in the game. Just one quick thing that people would be able to determine is who is fighting who. I'm more likely to attack someone whose already engaged in a conflict then I am someone who isn't.

In my opinion knowing that blue attacked green but not knowing where really doesn't add much value to people watching.
