Specifics:
- Maps like D-Day Omaha Beach have negative bonuses on them at somewhat out-of-the-way places on the map. I recently started a 5-person game where I had two negative bonuses. 4 of my 14 territories were tied up in the two -1 bonuses, and while my opponents are getting 4 guys per turn, moving toward 5, I'm stuck with just 2 guys on my first turn, and a -2 on every turn in the foreseeable future.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
- Keeping players engaged in games. If I know I'm getting two fewer armies per turn than a similarly situated player, I'm not going to have any interest in playing the game out, because I've basically already lost unless someone bails me out and busts those negative bonuses. I understand that this happens in games with few opponents, but 5 opponents starting with 14 territories should be enough to at least make sure someone doesn't start with MULTIPLE negative bonuses.
