Create/Join a Clan Form

Postby The Neon Peon on Mon Oct 13, 2008 6:57 pm

Concise description:
  • We should have a form in the "Create/Join a Clan" Forum when you start a new post, like the one we have in the "Suggestions & Bug Reports" one.

Specifics:
  • Okay, so when many people start a clan they do not put enough information, so why not do more to solve this. We could have a forum that goes something to the sort of:
    Code: Select all
    <DELETE ME>
PLACE THE NAME OF THE CLAN IN THE SUBJECT LINE!!! ALONG WITH THE TAGS: *[FORMING]* AND *[SOCIAL] OR [COMPETITIVE]*

Search for already existing clans before you start a new one, if there is one similar to yours, join that clan instead or make yourself different from them.

Clans require at least 9 people and the leader to start.
    </DELETE ME>

    [b]Clan Name:[/b] xxxxxxx

    [b]Competitiveness:[/b] COMPETITIVE / SOCIAL

    [b]Rank Requirement (if any):[/b] xxxxxxx

    [b]Concise description:[b]
    [list]
    [*] xxxxxxx
    [/list]

    [b]Specifics:[/b]
    [list]
    [*] xxxxxxx
    [*] xxxxxxx
    [/list]

    [b]Clan Leader:[/b] [player]xxxxxxx[/player]

    [b]Members list:[/b]
    [list]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [*][player]xxxxxxx[/player]
    [/list]

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • People will know the information they need to put when starting a clan if they are too lazy to look at the posts made by mods.

Given that hardly anyone uses the form in Cheating and Abuse properly, do we really think they would use one in Create/Join a Clan properly? I'm not sure they would.

maybe they wouldn't, but some would, and it would be an easy change to implement

I am bumping this again because there seems to be no disagreement, and because everyone has agreed so far, the thread died. Anyone have any nit-picky comments until lack considers this?

optimus disagreed and i agree with him. this form will not decrease the number of clans that are started and abandoned or duplicate clans. most people start clans not knowing how much work is involved and they let them die or they aren't discriminating in their selection of clan members, so they fail. to top it off, what we really need to get a handle on is social groups, not clans.-0
