Extension of Foe list to PMs

Postby Raf_THFC on Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:38 pm

Extend the foe list so that you can specifically block people from sending you PMs if they get abusive

Specifics:
- Either use the existing Foe list and just combine into the control for who can send you PMs
- Or have a separate list to control the in-game PMs only.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
it seems strange that you can block them in in-game chat, but unless you want to stop all correspondance, then you have to accept that some idiots will send you a continuous stream of unnecessarily rude PMs.

Generally the cause of these seems to be ratings or responses to ratings, or taking a good beating in a game :D

the change will allow people to get the most out of CC without being put off the game by the mindless, abusive minority, who seem to be growing in numbers over time, because they CAN get away with it.

You can already do this. Go to your Inbox, click on "Rules, folders & settings" (on the left), and set a rule so that if the sender is "insert username here", delete message. You'll never get another message from that person.

If this were connected to the foe list, it would be very annoying. I'll explain why: While most Foe-listings are reasonable and justified, different people have different standards for who deserves a foe-ing. If there were (and there are) people who foed incredibly indiscriminately, they would have quite a long foe list, including many who most would say are guiltless. This doesn't just effect that player however, it effects any game they join. This really only matters if they join a large and unique game: a Battle Royale. So now I reach my main point: The standard practise is, that if you attempt to join a BR and find that you can't, because someone who foed you has already joined, then you usually just send them a PM to temporarily remove you from the list. Most people are reasonable, and will allow this. But if they can't even receive PMs from foes, then there's no way to ever join a BR, if even one person dislikes you and happens to join first.

Well my problem is solved, by linking my foes list to the PM filter.

If this is really an issue then one of the other players in the game can send a PM mentioning the request.

At the end of the day, although I accept that some people may get foed for unfair or petty reasons, I find most of the ones on my list are jerks....there is no interest in me from blocking people who are polite and fun to play with.

On the other hand, I just can't be bothered with some people who take things a bit too seriously for my liking, and for whom losing makes them get all abusive, or who get all demanding over why you gave them all 4's in their ratings....or your response to their rating of you.

But as mentioned this feature can already be used, i just didn't realise it.
