sign up- multiple account clarification

Postby TeeGee on Mon Sep 15, 2008 9:29 am

Concise description:
  • Change the wording on the initial sign up to make it clearer for some people to understand

Specifics:

Currently the sign up is worded:
Warning: Having multiple accounts is considered cheating. We routinely scan for multiple accounts and offending members will be banned from Conquer Club.
I will only have one account

I propose changing the "I will only have one account" to "I will only have one account in my lifetime"

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • certain permabanned members feel that since there account is no longer active, that creating a 2nd account is legal as they think they no longer have the original account. Short of giving these people an additional brain cell, stating that 1 account per lifetime may clarify this situation.

 I agree with you on one thing, Something should be done, but as it stands now, the warning means squat. When a player is caught cheating, he is NOT banned as the warning states. :^o He is busted down to 1000 points, and made to pay again for upgrading to premie. I think the only change that should be made is... State the true policy for all to see. I view it as a false addvertisement to put a warning that is in fact, a lie. It gives a false impression that the site is clean and free of cheaters. If the true policy was stated in the warning, I imagine that fewer people would join CC. I like the warning as it is. I Only wish that it was truely followed.

If this is true, then the written policy should be stated as such.

As per what should happen to multis ... that was covered in a few other threads. (maybe a change is coming and that is why the intructions were not changed???)

IN either case, I still don't think poor understanding of the rule is REALLY why folks rejoin, not matter what they claim..

" gee officer, I really did not know that blinking light and sign meant I was supposed to slow down ... I thought that was just for trucks!"
