Auto Removal Of Nested Quotes

Postby hecter on Sat Sep 06, 2008 5:24 pm

Concise description:
  • When you submit a post with too many nested quotes it automagically removes the deepest quote.

Specifics:

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Everybody will love the mods forever as everybody hates that "You have too many nested quotes" message. And it won't take long either. ~3 minutes is my guess.

As long as the limit isn't set to some stupidly low amount (5 or so should be enough) then why not? If possible it would also be good if the limit could differ between subforums, the mafia forum really wants the possibility to follow discussions a bit longer than what is needed in most other forums.

The limit is already set at 5... For every forum... Did you even understand the suggestion?

Ah well I didn't remember what it was atm, I clean up my posts so I haven't encountered it yet.

Yea I know, that's why I mentioned that it would be appreciated if it was possible to do on a subforum basis instead.

Well, if you didn't it would obviously be my fault and I would have to go and make things more clear in the first post. So I figured I should ask.

Why can't you edit your own posts? It's not complicated.... keep the part you're referring to (it's usually the latest one ;)) and delete all of the rest (especially the ones you wrote!). Leaving in 5 quotes that don't directly relate (and can usually be found on the same page) makes your post cluttered and annoying to read, and makes you look incompetent.

The same could be said for all greasemonkey BOB users.

"Why don't you just do the math yourself? BOB just makes things annoying and cluttered. ect. ect."
