Although I know I'm correct on this... I respect the majority of responses- and even agree to some extent- that the Classic map, being based on the original board game (i think?) is best left alone. Though it would be lovely if people changed their minds...
Otherwise watch this space, a historically and politically accurate world map (c2008) is coming!

A politcal map would be cool if it is accurate world wide, but as far as classic leave it be...

Why not also change Afghanistan and Ukraine which are grossly inaccurate in depicting it's namesake? Because the Classic map has 80 years of beta testing behind the board's design. It's designed for balance, not for accuracy.

Okay, I think delilah's been flamed enough for this thread and it's time to shut up and just let this thread sink into nothingness.

Ooh thats a bit rude Simon tut tut! CC is a democracy, people are allowed to post if they feel- not because you don't like it/the topic. I HAVE noticed that all or the people who are against this idea are mainly (all?) from the US lol...
But that's fine by me if most people aren't up for making this strategic change, but no need to be so agressive about it. if you have the majority, you will win.

agreed
And geographically, even though Greenland is a dependency of Denmark, it is a part of North America.

I think it would be cool to see a completely accurate political world map... of course, you'd have to do a lot of serious research, because if that was the premise of the map, you'd have to be ready to face some serious nitpicking. If you (or anyone) is prepared to do that, I would definitely support the venture.

And whose map would you use? The United States since you live there? Russia? Iran? North/South Korea? Not everyone has the same political views on which countries exist and which borders exist where.

It's hard enough with Europe. I don't think it's worth it.

Anyway, this entire thread doesn't really belong in this forum... it's more of a Foundry issue.

Good point. I'm mostly just saying that it's pointless to change classic for the goal of accuracy...

Ink's right - just look at some of the problems I've had on the Europe map... or, if you wanted, you could trawl through the British Isles revamp to see some of the wrangling that goes over minute detail about territory border placement and naming...

I completely agree with you. Especially since Greenland is geographically part of North America, it only belongs politically to Europe. Classic is exactly how it should be, it is already accurate.

and even if someone did do a accurate political map of the world it would look too messy with so many countries/territories on it...
have the mods decided to reject this idea yet?

Well, I've to express my disapproval of this proposal. So, if there's a poll I'll definitely vote against.

@delilahplay2 ...Why not pitch your politically correct idea (to be based on a new map) with the map-makers over at the Foundry Forum?

I'm almost sure the only alterations that will ever be done to the Classic map will be purely graphic oriented (if any more even come). I.E. no game play changes.

Perhaps you should check out the Europa Map that is in production (notice Greenland. ;)).
