Alright, I'm just going to abandon the whole formate for this, because what I am suggesting here is so huge and far-reaching that it cannot concisely be pigeon-holed into list format at this time. It would be a chore to read. Trust me. I'm just going to write this out as a stream of consciousness for you to run with at your own pace.
So, here's the concept. New games could have an option set by the game creator to open up the settings of the game to debate and vote. As you look for new games to join, some of these may appear with a notation that this is a "votable" game. Once the full number of players have joined the game, the voting commences.
Basically, voting is a "pre-game", wherein each player can "Cast Their Vote" (as opposed to "Take Their Turn") to select their preference in this game for the various options (such as Fog of War, Freestyle vs Consecutive, Team vs FFA vs Terminator vs Doubles vs Triples vs Quadruples etc). Naturally, a lot of talk should be going on in the game as players speak their minds.
Each player gets one vote on each issue. In the even of a tie, the tie-breaking second vote goes to the game initiator....or perhaps a randomly chosen player.
You know what? This is an awefully tall order, requiring a mountain of code for an alternative that already exists: filtered searching for a game of your desired settings, or just starting your own game the way you want. However, I'm still posting this idea, as it could be quite fun for those who've played every which way but loose, those tired of the same old thing, those who just don't care or care too much about the rules of a given game.
