Speed Games - preventing Deadbeats....

Postby celeryuk on Mon May 19, 2008 7:02 am

Concise description:
  • Deadbeats & Speed Games - an idea to improve

First post from me, so here goes...

I'm a new player and loving CC. I like to play Speed games but get very fed up with people deadbeating during a speed game. Casual deadbeats are one thing but a deadbeat in speed is really annoying as it pretty much wastes 15 minutes of your life. Deadbeats dont really waste your time in casual games as your not sitting in front of the screen waiting for them to move.

If you sign up for a Speed game you are basically saying, "right, lets roll - I am ready for a full on game, right now, till the end, no messing!!". It should be for players that are up for it now. No one should enter a Speed if there is a risk they will need to leave.

I'd like to suggest that people are allowed ONE deadbeat during gameplay (not including the first move as people might miss that the game has started).

Any thougths?

Thanks,

I have had times during a speed game where either cc went down for 5 min, or my net stopped working, so if that as the rule i would have db them due to no fault of my own.

I would like to see the missed-turn limit reduced to 2, in all game types.

I can see having a missed turn limit of 2 for speed games, but definitely not for casual games.

Usually, if people miss a speed game, there is a reason ... though I have not played speed games for a while myself because I usually cannot commit to 1/2 hour 45 minutes or more, having kids and such.
