Bonus for missing turns

Postby Kirzan on Sun Feb 03, 2008 12:50 am

I believe that the deferred deployment is a great idea and saves some troubles. But, I have seen people take advantage of missed turns and have their total bonus be deferred if they miss a turn and would like to see this changed. If a person misses a turn they should only be allowed to deploy the base amount of men instead of the whole bonus held.

This tactic was used in a doubles game against me by both parties involved and could have easily cost us the game if we weren't good on the map.

If you break their bonus, they won't get it in their defered armies... I recommend going that.

thats a great idea but when its that early in a game you can't break the bonus. it would be better to not allow this to be used as a ploy to win a game.

I don't think it is... I mean, those are armies he would have gotten anyway, you have a full turn (potentially two) to do something about his bonus and he can't do anything with his deferred armies until his next turn, so I'd say he's at the disadvantage...

play on the age or realms magic map a bit and you will see why these deferred armies are a plus to that person who misses a turn for fortification purposes. and use in a doubles game it can be far worse.

I agree for those two maps, but this issue has been thoroughly discussed in other threads. It took Lack a long time to make the changes he made. though I have no way of knowing, it seems unlikely he will quickly make another change.

Perhaps just put folks on your ignore list who employ this tactic?
