The Jesus Freaks

If you are interested in joing the Jesus Freaks, please pm me and we'll consider giving you membership.
Obviously the main requirement is being a Christian and believing that the entire Bible is the direct Word of God.

EDIT: HoustonNutt, and various others have decided to turn the recruitment thread for the Jesus Freaks into yet another endless religion debate. It didn't work to stop them so I request this now be moved to the Mess Hall where the discussion can unfold. I'll probably make a new recruitment thread for the Jesus Freaks.

Funny you ask, there was an attempt(mainly by morph) to form an Anti-Jesus Freaks clan.

Despite being a Christian, I couldn't be in a clan that shares the name of a DC Talk album.

Then you can go join the JC Warriors.

Are there any other groups for myopic sheep who believe in fairy tales?

I'm sorry, but I cannot find a single group on this site where believing in fairy tales is required. Maybe you'll have to start it and only allow myopic sheepish people who fail to see the love of God. I think you'd make a good Mary with a little sheep who's fleece is white as snow.

Hey, I just found a book that talks about pink elephants and magical rabbits. Maybe I should devote my entire belief system to the idea that such things are real and true. After all, if it says it in a book...

Houston what evidence do you have that says the Christian belief is fairy tale and not fact? Perhaps you should start a thread in off topic I will join you in there start with your evidence that is is fairy tales then I will post my evidence it is at least historically founded and divinely inspired...You will then be able to leap in joy as you destroy it as faith over and over agan we could keep it up for months perhaps years and others will forever be able to watch as you belittle somthing you do not understand. What do you say?

Edit... You might even learn something.

This is a fairly standard response from Christians in "defense" of their belief system. Namely, they ask you, the non-believer to prove that they are wrong. Of course, such an argument ignores two important things--first, that there is no way to prove that something does NOT exist (especially in this context) and, second, that the person who is claiming that (a) God exists, (b) Jesus is the son of God, and (c) that the Bible is divine word carries the burden of proof for each of those.

Think of it this way: A person comes up to you and says that they can fly. Because this is suspect under any rational scrutiny, you don't believe them. Now, it's not your burden to prove that they can't fly, for the only way to do that is to have them prove that they can. That is, proving the non-existence necessarily requires the other party proving the existence.

So, here's an idea. YOU, Kokunai, start a thread wherein you delineate your proof for any of the above three points. Let's stick to logical rules here, however. Which means that you can't use the Bible to prove the existence of God or Jesus unless, first, you can use something else to prove that the Bible is the Word of God. Since proving that something is the Word of God requires that you first prove the existence of God, I imagine your proof should run something along the lines of "God exists because_____, the Bible is his word because _________, Jesus is God's son because of A + B." See, I even made it easy for you. Just go ahead and fill in those blanks. (Also, please remember that you can't use the Bible to prove its own validity any more than I can use Moby Dick to prove the existence of Captain Ahab and a great white whale.)

Side note: You claim that you can prove to me how the bible or the religion or whatever is divinely inspired. Because this necessarily requires you to prove the existence of divinity, knock yourself out. Then do us all a favor and answer the following: 1. Do you believe in the story of Noah's Ark? If so, how do you account for a complete lack of such a flood in the fossil record. 2. Do you believe that dinosaurs roamed the Earth? If not, how do you account for the bones? If so, how do you explain the inconsistency between when the dinosaurs lived and the dates the Bible gives for the universe's age? 3. Do you acknowledge the difference between a scientific theory (evolution) and a blind adherence to faith (creation)? If so, how does that jive with the rest of your religion? If not, how can you chastise someone for not believing in something as esoteric as faith when you refuse to believe in something grounded in concrete science?

And I chose to ignore your "request."

Kokunai wrote:I asked you not to prove that it did not exist but that it indeed is a fairy tale pay more attention when your reading.

fairy tale
n.
1. A fanciful tale of legendary deeds and creatures, usually intended for children.
2. A fictitious, highly fanciful story or explanation.

While the Bible would arguable fit either of these definitions, the second is more accurate. Floods that cover the entire earth? Men slaying giants with a slingshot? People living to be hundreds of years old? Woman being born of man's rib? I think all of those (and myriad other biblical tales) fit the definition of "fictitious" and "highly fanciful."

Now, if YOU would like to post in the mess hall and commence to answering my questions posted above, feel free.

Of course when you look at the history of the eath you will see:
1) Jesus was a real man
2) People did live that old. How? Scientifically speaking if the entire world was covered in a layer of water - much like how we have an ozone lane.. make it a hard water layer - people would live longer.
3) DOn't try to use human logic and human understanding to comprehend something as infinite and power as God.
4) Ninjas > Basebal.

I really, really hope this is just a failed attempt at humor through absurdity and sarcasm.

GUYS religion/anti-religion debates on the internet, seriously... :x

let them have their clan and leave them be

wait so houston nutt, you joining the clan?, if not then why are you posting here, i should tell you now no Christian would ever be swayed by your arguments, the bible doesn't even mention the creation of the universe or the earth, only the formation of the earth as we know it, if you believe proof is limited to photon interation with your eyes then you live in a small reality, and you are right, i will never be able to prove God exists to you, the proof does not exist in your reality. But i will say that i have seen and heard things that form a basis for my faith, and i do love science and math and logic and find none of these conflict with my faith, the science vs faith thing is bogus.

Well since god is something made up by humans, using their (lack of) logic and understanding - what else is one supposed to use when trying to understand what it is they made up?

Sorry, I'll take it to the mess hall...d'oh

Houston, your saying everything I've been saying over the years. Its funny how when a christian asks" How can the earth just be here?" and you say " How can a god just be there?" Something started it all, but to say a god, nope. I got into a debate with 2 christians at my work and they handed me a pamphlet on " Top 10 reasons Evolution is false". I almost vomited while laughing at their arguments.Google it. Its hilarious.

Samething happened to me, only my arguments was more on the creation of the universe as well as god. I asked themif god created the universe and earth then who created god? They replied with "He created himself" I replied with, "If God created himself, then why can't you believe the universe did the same" or something along those lines, it was a while back. And the adam and Eve Thing is just bull. How can any "god" or anything create something from nothing, are they magicians or somethign? The creation of the universe, earth, and humanity, was a process that took BILLIONS of years, maybe even more. Not seven days(I think thats how long it took "god" not so sure). Anyways thats just my opinion and what I believe.

You don't have to agree, you just have to accept that not everyone things the same, that's why there are so many religions. And each one claims to be the right or true one. Again my just two cents.

But the clan seems like a good idea for those who are into that and want to get together. Hey it's a free country you can do what you like.

There are plenty of threads for this in the Mess Hall. And if none of them suite your liking then make a new one in the Mess Hall. This is not the right place for this discussion and I don't want the whole thread moved to the Mess Hall because of HoustonNutt's rejection of Christianity and spirituality as a whole.

Now, please stop the 'prove me there is a god' and 'prove me there isn't one' talk in here. This is for the formation of a new Christian community.
