We're setting up a clan war and something is bugging me

It says that singles have to be under 20% of the matches within a war for the war to qualify for medals.

We're setting up a 45 game war, with 8 singles, and 12 doubles, triples and quads (with a further tie breaker on quads), so by these numbers singles only take up around 17.5-18% of the matchups and the war qualifies no problem.

But, each of the singles matches will be a best of 5 to reduce the efffect of lucky drops, so in reality there will be 40 singles matches set up. If this counts then singles would take up 52% of the fights, and the war would no longer be eligible for medals.

Which is true please? Can best of 5s count as a single match each for war medals, or do we have to count all 5 matches in the total?

You are setting up a 45 POINT war...with less than 20% of the points going to singles. So that is fine under the rules. Go forth and battle.
