Concise description:
  • I was surprised to learn recently that it is not an available feature within CC to review fogged games post-completion and go through snaps as if they were sunny, effectively "lifting the fog". This would be a useful functionality considering I think many players would find it interesting to review which players made which choices each round in the fog. I would think this would have to already be an available functionality to mods to review cheating complaints and is already the "base" template for a sunny game. I'm not tech-savvy at all but I would imagine fog is an added layer that CC superimposes on a sunny game, so why can't the average player just peel back the layer and review for themself?

Specifics/Details:
  • I don't have any

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Self-explanatory

Thanks.

I had never checked, just thought it happened. It lifts on the logs, I don't see why it couldn't lift on the snaps.

I discussed this with bigWham a few months ago and it is possible but needs support from the community to justify both the effort and potential impact if mistakes happen.

Lifting the fog of the final outcome of a game is the same as making the final snapshot sunny.

Lifting the fog for each turn of a game would mean recording both snapshots for each user perspective and also a sunny version of the snapshot.
This could be hundreds of snapshots per game and would take a lot of space which is one issue.

Another way to implement this would be to add some intelligence to filter out foggy territories and remove the filter post-game but that need some more support from the community to consider.

This also carries some risk of mistakes revealing foggy territories when they shouldn't be.

What would be good is to get more support for this (you can add mine) and there could be the case for a more advanced snapshot system.

I've let bigWham know this has been asked for.
