Wiki

Concise description:
  • Create a wiki page about CC

Specifics/Details:
  • Compile everything we've got on CC information into one single wiki.
  • Delete all guides and info everywhere and just place a wiki-link at the top.
  • Opportunity to fill in the holes where necessary.
  • A new place to finally place all the map strategy guides.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Avoid confusion. Rules, guidelines, policies, etc. are too scattered all over the website. It's an arduous effort locating all of them. One central place for all info is easier.
  • Everybody knows the term 'wiki', it's generally accepted that's the place to start searching for information.

I like it! Excellent idea.

Here's the Elder Scroll's unofficial wiki for an example: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page

I'll be sending this to BW and several Community and Academy mods to see how we can best implement this.

You're nobody until you have your own wiki.

I second this and then it's actually a great suggestion.

JamesKer1, let us know when it's ready!

The last Conquer Club wiki died for lack of support:
https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=160741&p=3517170#p3517170

I predict the next one will, too. It's a great thing to have, and everyone loves the idea, until they realize just how much work is involved in writing all the articles, checking them for accuracy, keeping them up-to-date, etc. It's a monumental task, and with the chronic shortage of volunteers on the site to do even really simple tasks, the idea of finding enough volunteers to pull this one off is, well, a pipe dream.

I'm not trying to knock the idea, I'm really not. I think it would be great to have. I just know the volunteer labour force needed to put it together doesn't exist.

Also, this thread should be titled "CC Wiki" and not "cc Wikipedia". From the same thread cited above, see natty:
Subject: Conquer Club Wiki
natty dread wrote:You shouldn't name it "Wikipedia", Wikipedia is a totally different site, which is what's causing confusion here to people. You should just name it "Conquer Club Wiki", which is what it is.

ie. You're creating a site using a Wiki-software that contains info on Conquer Club. These kinds of sites are commonly called "wikis", and the most known "wiki" site is Wikipedia, which also uses a Wiki-software.

I'd be in favor of letting any registered user edit it, actually. It can always be reverted, and if we have shenanigans, we can protect pages.
