Only used for one month then. Very short-lived feature.

This is a brilliant idea! You should start a thread in the suggestions forum immediately!

I'm just amazed that nobody thought of it before...

And, y'know what? I've been wondering lately, if the dice are somehow rigged against me.

Man, you should make a fucking thread about that! I bet there's hundreds of people just like you that are suffering in silence.

I mean, only the other day I attacked 5 v 3 and lost!! I mean, what the f*ck is up with that? That'd never happen on my Risk board at home; is the owner of this site sure that the dice are random?

CC should actually make this button...it would make catching multi's a freakin' breeze.

...actually no they shouldn't do this option.

God, they can't be. I seriously just barely won a battle, 10 against 12, and only had 5 left. What's the big deal? My guys are obviously better, they should kill them much more than at a 2 to 1 ratio...

They can't be random, no way! And jeez, this surrender button, all my multi's would be getting me points by the dozens, that's a great idea!

keep trying

Having it restricted to only when you're weak defeats the idea but if you're 3 hrs into a speed game and have to go resigning would save everyone else 15 minutes. Rules may force people to keep cycling their turns after they are beat but they can't force people to stay and play when real life calls. A resign button would allow a person to leave in a more considerate way.

A "resign" button was long ago in the past, but it was removed due to abuse. Though there are legit times a resign button could come in handy, for the most part it seems to encourage poor sportsmanship. A win from a resign seems to be a lot less fun than a win when you take someone's last territory.

"Skip turn" button

Postby Mr_Adams on Mon May 19, 2008 5:04 pm

button to allow you to skip a turn

make a button allowing players to skip turns. this will eliminate the complaints about "intentional dead beaters" and such. also, if you want to leave an rt, and you don't want to anger people, you can politely sit and hit "skip turn" each time your turn comes around until you are kicked for missing turns.
Can also play major strategic role in escalating games.

A) lack does not like pop-up windows (see the thread about undoing a deploy)
B) this would be open for a lot of abuse between secret alliances and multis

I don't think you've made a good case as to why you want a "skip turn" button. Maybe you think it's self-evident, but I don't understand why it would be a benefit. Or maybe I'm just having a hard time understanding what you wrote.

No one should be intentionally skipping turns anyway. If "life calls", life calls, but if it does call, you wouldn't be sitting there hitting "skip turn".

Very true. It's my impression, that it's an attempt at getting a "suicide" option.

Usually you find out in advance that you're going to be missing your turns. I tried to get my games ended before my spring vacation, and didn't join any more, but a few went longer than I had originally expected. I wish I could have spared my opponents the annoyance of waiting for 72 hours while my turns sat there... all I could do is say, "sorry, I'm going to have to deadbeat".

Same thing in RT games. Someone joins a RT game, but then something comes up. Before they go, they could hit "skip turn", or "auto-deadbeat", or "surrender", whatever you want to call it. That way someone could leave without killing the entire game.

I don't think the site's design should be centered around the cheaters. I'd like to think we can have more confidence in the cheater hunters than that. If a person repeatedly drops out of 1v1 games against the same person, it's pretty obvious that the games aren't legitimate. A good website will always have people who try to abuse it; we should try stop those people, but plan the features around the majority who follow the rules.
Another way to stop cheaters would be to get rid of the scoring system altogether... a major motivation for them would disappear. Of course this won't happen, because the site would become much less fun for people.

Resigning game option.

Postby Battle-Rage on Sun Jun 01, 2008 3:54 am

Its probably been discussed dozens of times, but having a resign or quit game option would help ease up the tension and stress in the cc community.

Some people quit games for legitimate reasons, but others just bail when they are losing.

Surely the majority of these players would just hit resign game?

Any thoughts?

To me, resigning is like not wanting to be called a deadbeat. If you joined a game, then play it. If you're not going to play it, might as well deadbeat so the other players will know what kind of player you are.
However, if it is a real emergency I think you should announce in the game chat that you're not going to play anymore. Even though ppl can leave you neg feedback for that, you know that you've done your best to try and participate.
