Accused:

morff69

The accused are suspected of:

Other: Repeated, deliberate deadbeating

Game number(s):

Game 15651904

Comments: As soon as the guy starts losing he announces that he's gonna deadbeat out of the game then just stops taking his turns. One look at this ratings and you can see he's done this to a whole bunch of people over a pretty extended period of time.

That map, fog trench, it's polite to db when a loss is imminent.

Even if a map is fog and trench it is still against the rules to deadbeat. Also I have never heard of it being considered polite to deadbeat. Sometimes players say where the other locations are but that is not the matter in question. Besides there are other games such as Game 15631804, Game 15473946, and Game 15096860. Then there are other games which ended before morff69 could miss three turns in a row such as Game 15051693 and Game 14915512. Considering the amount of games and multiple poor ratings that were tagged with deadbeating this looks like repeated offenses.

Have you ever played USA 2.1 on fog/trench? It's horrendous to finish. And yes, it is polite to say Gg, I'll db. Waiting 3 turns to get the win then having to play 20 turns to get every territory.

@btown Except that's not what he's doing. He's just abandoning the game because he's a sore loser.

That game is now jamming up one of my 4 slots when we could have had it finished and over with yesterday,

Only in speed games, not casual.

Well I know how to solve that, a small yearly donation to the site will get you unlimited games!! Then you don't need to worry about it if a player is delaying the end of a game. I bet if he wanted to, he could wait 23 hours:59 minutes to play every turn and make that game last a month.

Here are a few games where he deadbeats as soon as he has lost.
Game 15631806
Game 15631805
Game 15631804
Game 15564451

So, he was previously given a 1 month ban for this, which indicates it was his 2nd major infraction. So this would be a third major, which would be a permanent website ban.

Will he be given the boot? Will he be allowed to just buy back? Will he just make a multi and get a clean slate?

Whatever happens, Morff was aware that this type of behavior is not allowed on CC, so any punishment is his own fault.

My bank card is UnionPay, which I can't use to pay for premium.

So SMO.

Yeah I have played a couple games on that map with fog trench. Anyway the fact still stands that it is deadbeating and against the rules. Also it would probably be quicker if morff69 just played out those turns instead of deadbeating. If you look at the game it was a two player and those can be finished rather quickly when both players are online at the same time.

The only time it's acceptable to deadbeat like that is a speed game. Why you guys are even discussing it for a casual game I have no idea.

I usually do not play such big map in 1vs1 trench, but I think that even in casual, deadbeating this kind of game is faster than playing it.

You can't predict that without knowing how often both players would play. If I was losing, I would drop and end.

Deadbeating takes precisely 24 hours.
Taking a turn within that time is bound to take less, unless they start it after 23 hours but then fail to finish it, which would just be dumb. The other person would still need to take their subsequent turn within 24 hours of that.
The quickest way is definitely to take your turn, deploy, and end.

We were playing RT at the time he started losing and declared his attention to deadbeat.

Deadbeating take 72 hours. Worst case scenario your opponent is taking turn very slowly, it would means 6 days - maximum, has to be less indeed. In the present case it took 3 days and half an hours, so 72 hours and 30 min.

Playing a turn take less than 24 hours, but there is, as pointed out before, more than 20 turns to be played. Let's assume you take 2 turns/ day, and your opponent as well, it means 10 days to finish if there is indeed 20 turns to be played.

Of course, if playing "RT" it would be faster to play the game than to db, but even playing RT it would take probably more than 1 hour, no one can affirm than the morff69 had time to be standing more than 1 hour playing this game.

For 1vs1 trench game, a forfeit button should be in place.
CC is guilty here.
Who want to play such a long boring already decided game ?

Apologies, I meant 24 hours per turn.
I agree it's tedious playing trench on a big map when you're losing...but is it really that much of a problem compared with the possible abuse of a forfeit button?
I would think that would only ever be available via an appeal to a mod, otherwise the sad lonely losers who look to cheat with multiple accounts will just have a field day.

I don't belive for a minute that this game would take 20 turns to finish. Sure, it's a big map, on Trench, but using the airports as shortcuts it should be possible to reach any part of the map from any other in (worst case) about 10 turns and given that the players have a lot more starting terts I'm guessing it would be possible to wrap this up in 5 or 6 turns if the opponent is not resisting.

The average player takes their turn 8.5 hours after the previous player, so given average times 6 turns for 2 players is still considerably faster than deadbeating it.

If he was a gentleman he would try to take his turns faster than average so that his opponent could get done even faster, but I suppose one can't always expect gentlemanly behaviour.

A forfeit button should be in place, but it isn't, and this isn't the Suggestions forum. To drop and run takes 5 seconds. It really isn't as big a problem as some people want to make it sound. If you don't want to play, drop and run.

Morff has received a 1 month ban for intentional deadbeating.
