Don't worry about that, my friends and I say similar things about the mods all the time.

One thing I do know is that when it comes right down to it, the mods will do the thing they think is best with issues like this. The evidence pointing towards AM and nietz planning this is, IMO, overwhelming. I don't know why AM would do this, and I'm not even sure if they really did. But, what I do know is that at the end of the day, points mean shit all. As long as you have some fun playing the game, then it was a good game. The little icon beside your name means nothing. You gain respect on this site and in this game through honour in play and showing kindness on the forums, not for being at the top of the scoreboard. AM had this respect. The loss here isn't the 1800 points that she lost, it's the respect that she's lost. As somebody has already said, she can easily gain the points back in no time. The respect and dignity on the other hand is a different story.

nietzsche wrote:Seriously Sully I have nothing against you. You're seeing the things you wanna see. Let me explain you again

I decided to stop playing, I was gonna deadbeat all my games but felt sorry for my trips partners, with whom I had signed up for a full tourny, so I gave my password to Clockwork, and recommended Scott to take my turns although I told Clock the decision was his. Then, when the whole matter of ban incident happened I kept loging on to read the posts and post when I was allowed to and also took some turns in the games I had decided to deadbeat.. why? well, why not?

It was during those days that ABS challenged me --the challenge I already explained--, I took her challenge and set up the games. She joined and I was able to start the games, but waited for the mood to start taking my 50 turns (less actually, since she got to start some games too). A few hours after, or minutes I don't recall, I logged in again, and saw someone taking a turn in one of the games against ABS, I joined and asked, in a sarcastic manner "how come I'm taking turns".. although I figured out instantly that it was either Clockwork or someone else chosen by Clock to take my turns in that trips game. Later that day I received the news I had to be in another city ASAP, so I left. During those days I even checked my e-mail once or twice, but had absolutely no time to take my turns on CC.

Alright, if it isn't clear this time I give up.

I could care less about my score but I felt obliged to try to get ABS' points back, because this matter is absolutely all my fault. wicked was unsatisfied of my penis and started all this drama.

Please, either give us back our money or gives back our points.

And comic shut the **** up.

Well, I wasn't really trying to see things the way I wanted to see them. I was trying to see them in whatever way would make you look guilty, to see how you would respond (and admittedly, the case does seem very strange).

Anyway, I do believe you that it was just a bunch of coincidences that all piled up and made it look like you were very guilty. And hwhrhett is also correct in that letting something like this slide easily would just encourage more people to do it.

I'm personally be in favor of deleting all the games in question and letting each player retain their previous score. I don't know if thats possible at this point, but if it is, perhaps it could solve the problem for both sides?

(Oh, and from everything I've seen around here, lack is not an asshole at all...but you aren't going to get your score reset or get banned for saying that he is!)

Very well put, IMO. I sometimes think I wouldn't mind a score reset because climbing quickly is a lot of fun! But having your name dragged through the mud is harder to shake off, especially if this wasn't intentional. The problem is that it COULD be intentional, and thats the problem with every accusation of cheating, especially when it involves well known members.

ABS, he seemed to be supporting you!! [Edit: On a re-read, maybe he wasn't. But initially I thought he was saying it was a shame for people to respect you less, because this might not have been planned. hecter can clear that up I guess]

True hecter did a lot of spamming (and still does in spamalot). But he's also become very helpful to posters who have common questions or suggestions, and he has some very quality posts like the one above. Much like RK, he trolled a bit and does in various ways, but is turned around and became a much more valuable contributor to the site. :)

Especially with well known members. Nobody cares about the joesomebody who gets busted and who's only posts are in his accusation thread. He's forgotten within the hour. But when somebody who frequently posts and people know will cause a quite a stir. There will be people on both sides [guilty and innocent] and it really sucks for everybody, no matter what the outcome. For the accused, their name has been tarnished, potentially permanently. For the community, it causes some drama, and there is the obvious possibility of losing a valued member. For you guys (the mods, that is) you have to make the decision (of possibly banning somebody you like) and have to put up with some people hating you. There are no upsides to it. They aren't just forgotten within the hour. In fact, they probably will always be remember as long as the people who experienced it are still around.

No he wasn't.. you probably misread his post...

If he is so helpful.. why do some of the mods keep going against him? why was spamalot deleted... if he is so much more of a valuable contributor to the site why when someone suggested him for mod most of the mods where on the floor laughing?

Sully.. i do respect the way you do your work and your posts. I've said it many times you are very methodical and you actually use your brain before typing something... and just because of that i :-# .. now.. not everyone in the mod group is like you...

I was trying to remain neutral (though I did lean towards her side). But it seems that AM wants to be as big of a bitch as she can

I really don't know what I did to deserve such an out lash of anger from her.

Thanks sully800 for the excellent investigation work and interrogation work you've done on this case! I had no idea it would turn into such a bruhaha.

I agree that it seems more like a bunch of coincidences. It has become clear to me that ABSOLUTE_MASTER is innocent and nietzsche, I'll give you benefit of doubt. I have cleared the block, reversed the score reset and because this is a special case I deleted all 50 games in question (which nullifies the points gained).

I'm unlocking the thread, on condition that people don't flame each other.

I must also chime in to say that I've had several PMs from different people asking about these 50 games and what CC thinks of it. I only forwarded to lackattack one of the concerned PMs, but just a word to the wise - more people are watching each other than perhaps we realize. ;)

Lack: Thank you very much!

FP: I got many of those pm as well... of course everyone wanted to know about those games...

Now.. I must really say all this was worth it.. It's great to know CC has all the tools to conduct a proper investigation, it's even better that some people care about doing their jobs.. thanks Sully! And finally... I most say you've earned a bit of my respect Lack... not everyone can recognize when they err.

Oh and finally... I was looking forward to enjoy being a Private again.. Someone said Private ABSOLUTE_MASTER is less aggressive than Major ABSOLUTE_MASTER.. but i guess I'll be ok being a Captain... Now I can play team games again without my partners being worried about losing the game and being punished because of my score... :)

i lost two two player games to sully...can I reset my score...sorry

I never chimed in here, because i never really knew what to make of it...Sully, you really are a strategist to the core....youre on my ignore list...not really, but its tempting. im far more worried about the game i just joined with you now...

but it is nice to know that that massive point donations will be reset in the future....however accidental...and that a situation this....complex...can be resolved....while still setting a nice precedent for the future....ie...unfair games can and will be deleted if necessary...

QFT

ALso, I was going to suggest that the reset would only reset half the way to 1000. ;)

actually, i meant to add, that im not assuming any guilt here....its perfectly plausible that this was accidental, and i have no problem believing it...

i was more pointing out that its nice to know that lack can, and is willing to keep the scoring fair, and will go beyond simple bans and warnings in tricky situations.

i'm sorry, but i really don't get this. what investigation and interrogation do you refer to? in this thread all we have is nietzsche's side of the story and one tiny bit from scott that actually seems incidental.

they set up 50 games at once that just "happened" to be deadbeated? and abs gets off b/c she was an innocent bystander.....wait a minute, the only evidence you have that she wasn't actively involved in a point heist....is nietzsche's statement that he had to leave town suddenly. that's it. unless you count a couple of character witnesses that attest to her honor. wtf is that? is it impossible for someone to decide to cheat for the first time? or to go out and attempt to prove a point about the scoring system? or to lie about their level of concern for points?

i don't like abs, that is true. but i'm much more concerned about keeping things above board around here than i am about a personal grudge. any player who almost cracked the top 10 (or wherever it was) by cheating deserves to get slammed. i'd love to see any evidence this wasn't an out and out scam, beyond the testimony of the accused and some shallow character testimony from friends of the accused. even hecter recognized that the evidence was overwhelming.....

this all looks really shaky....
