"Italy" map

This might be the most poorly designed map on CC. Does something like this make it all the way through the acceptance process on aesthetic appeal alone? How does no one step up and mention the fact that when playing 1v1 with each player starting with 12 (or 15, or 18, etc) territories, the player going first is given a nearly insurmountable advantage?

Is there some sort of movement formed to fix unbalanced maps like this? I couldn't find any mention of it using the search feature.

1v1 isn't the only game type.... If you don't like 1v1 on the Italy map, don't play it. Simple as.

Regardless of the other options available in maps and settings the opening poster does make a valid point. =D>

It's true — I am a victim of exactly this — and I said I agree, but still. I definitely wouldn't say it's the most poorly designed map on here.

it is unfortunate that some maps only have 36 territories... whatever dude. you can't force map makers to make maps with only a certain number of territs so that it is better for 1v1 gameplay. if that were the case, all the maps would end up playing the same. suck it up.

During the foundry process we try our best to balance maps as much as possible. Italy was done back at a time when this issues was less noticed than it is now. Most maps that now come out try to reduce this issues as much as possible.

Unfortunatly we cant change live maps since its ruins live games and saved logs.

Now ill just lock this since its getting a little heated and this has been answered. Feel free to continue a mature convo in foudnry discussion :)

p.s. Widowmakers has also brought it to my attention that Italy was started before 2 player games were introduced onto the site so during development 1v1 wasn't a concern.
