Maps in Development (post info about your maps)

Postby wcaclimbing on Tue Nov 06, 2007 9:33 pm

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY POSTED YOUR MAP IN OAKTOWN'S GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD, YOU DO NOT NEED TO POST IT HERE, ALSO. WE WILL BE TRANSFERING INFORMATION BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE TWO.
To all of the Map Foundry Cargoraphers, this thread is the newest place to share your maps and make the Foundry run more smoothly.

This is NOT a discussion thread and NOT an advertisement thread. It is simply a list of maps and other important Foundry information that will be used to make the Foundry much more user-friendly and easier to use.

To participate, all you have to do is post a small description of your map (using the form included at the end of this post). Then, whenever I get the chance to (probably every few days), I will be copying every map description posted in this thread into this first post, so anyone and everyone, foundry regulars or new members, can come here, browse through each map included, and get a better idea of whats going on here, rather than digging through the forums trying to find the good maps.

Yes, this is similar to what used to be the Foundry News, but this time around we have a team of members backing this all up.

Here is the form to use:

Map Title (please include a link to your map thread)
Thumbnail Image (optional. keep it within 150x150 size)
Mapmaker
Description (keep it small, please)
Territories.
Special Play Features (bombardments, neutral starts, etc)

And now here is an example to get you guys going:

Map name: Duck & Cover [/b]Clicky
Image
Mapmaker: Oaktown
Description: The year is 1953: do you know what to do in case the Russians drop the bomb? Bert the Turtle does! This map was begun in response to requests for another small map to accompany Doodle.

Special features: bombardments

All updates will be added to the second post below:

Well if we are going to do this. Could you get consistant formating? I know you want to just copy paste information from other people into the list but SUPERMAX very much breaks the red bold name, clicky to the right standard set by everyone else. While your fixing that adding , Coleman onto mibi would be swell.

Age of Realms Trilogy breaks the formatting a bit too. Actually the more I look the less consist things become. As Spaceness didn't do the title the same at all, and has the whole link spelled out in a rather ugly way.

On that note, you probably need a range for thumbnail size. Is 100x100 the max? Spaceness's thumbnail seemed to big and SUPERMAX too small. At the moment there is no standard there. If you intend to build something moderation can use, which I would like to believe you do, then we need a standard for thumbnail sizes, formating, ect that is being kept in the 'official' list.

Hopefully you get what I'm saying. :(

In the GD thread I'm going to do what i can to keep the formatting consistent. No thumbs in the first post for sure - fine in an individual post. If something is close I'll let it slide just so I have less work to do.

I am planning to do that, eventually.

I was a little rushed last night when I was creating this thread.

I will probably have all the formatting issues ironed out within a day or two.

Works for me, thanks for taking this on. I could maybe pull a bunch of descriptions from news and make thumbnails myself for a lot of the maps sometime in the next week.

That will be very helpful.

I just updated the list and changed some formatting, so it should all look much more consistant.

and i am going to set the thumbnail size limit at 150x150. yes, it is a little big, but i feel that, at least for some of the maps, a thumbnail that big is needed to show the image correctly.

Hey WCA, I added a few maps last night to the GD thread, and rather than PMing all of them to you individually it seemed easier to just post here. I'm posting map descriptions in the order in which they were received, so just figure out what was last for you and copy/paste everything below it.

As for formatting, it'd certainly be easier if we were consistent between each other so we can just c/p map info. Take a look at what I have going and let me know if you'd like to do something different.

@oaktown:

Im working on that right now. will be done in a sec.

Im going to change all of mine to Blue.
