does anyone have a link to the spreadsheet that you can use to constructe continent bonuses? and could it possibly be added to the map making tools thread?

in my opinion each continenets bonus has largely to do with how the map is set up

there could be guidlines like

if it has 2 borders and 5 or less territories=2

and things like that.

but each map is different and may require different bonuses for the VERY different continents from map to map

That tool is now in the Map Making Tools. It is only to be used to determine start bonuses for continents as they may vary according to the map and other conditions of play.

i totaly agree with you

also you could make the bonuses big or low (but still diference between them)

I always see the continent itself too, and its location, at the side of the map is a big difference then in the middle of all the mayham

That concerns me telvannia...what browser are you using.
I use IE7 and have no problems with WM's link opening it in a brwoser or saving as targe file and opeing in excel .
please advise...although i'm not sure if i can do anything.

i am using safari (for mac) and can download it too
but i think i maybe know what is the problem, be sure to have the option pop up windows allowed

i use firefox, and im getting the same error as wisse,

the old link worked for me, and i still have a copy of the old excel file on my computer so it is not so important that i get this link to work.

i think the problem is IE,
its because there were rules about what a browser had to do and microsoft did not follow those rules, one example: if you forget to write something in a html file and put it up on firefox/safari it doesn't work as you wished, then if you put it up in IE the browser thinks what the thing could be (so he guesses what there should be) wich is why some internet sites (or other things) work good on IE and not on other browsers and then they blame the other browsers,

so:

Yes it works fine for me, and i fine the instruction nice and easy to follow and it is generally a good tool for helping production of maps.

Bonuses generator?? Lol, map makers dont need to think.

Just tried Cairns generator to classic map, it says NA and Europe should have a bonus of 4 instead 5, lol. Also tried Philippines map, it gave me 3 different bonuses. And it considers how many territories, borders, attacking routes, etc.

In fact, I have a different mental formula... If the continent is designed with like half of territories being border ones, the bonus is the number of borders. If the number of border is very high, then the bonus will change according to number of countries. Just this

Attack routes and number of neighbour continents, I have learned during my map making experience, hardly make a difference to the bonus.

Anyway, good tools to begginers
