Re: Evolution vs Creationism - analysis of the facts

So Def#1 of theory explains why we call it Pythagoras's theorem: the analysis of a set of facts in their relation to one another.

However, the theory of evolution uses a different definition of the word theory. It uses #6 hypothesis. And a hypothesis is an assumption, an assumption used to draw ...

Anyone who thinks that we've cut back on greenhouse gases enough needs to get their facts strait. We haven't made any major resolutions to cut back the amount we need or even to set up a time table to gradually reduce emissions. Fuel standards for gasoline powered cars are not strict at all, and the ...

I like the wii most. If you like graphics over gameplay, go to Microsoft or Sony, but if you just want a fun game, Nintendo has got it right. Besides, it's not like the Wii has horrible graphics. They're not good compared with Ps3 or 360, but it's still at least 2.5 times as powerful as Gamecube ...

No, you're not wrong. 1/0 doesn't exist, and it isn't defined - it's infinity.

Do you know what the graph y = 1/x looks like?

Now, look at quadrant I, near the y axis. As x gets very small, y gets very big. It's an inverse ...

Alright continuing.

flashleg, to answer your final point, infinite / infinite is undefined. There's no way of telling what it is. It's not just "does not exist" (like 1/0, which = infinite = Does not exist), it's just "undefined", which means there's absolutely no way of figuring it out.

I feel ...

couldn't get to sleep, mind was wandering, just thought I'd post this real quick. 1/infinity can't equal zero because zero times infinity equals zero, not one. I think I just either proved Ambrose or some property wrong. Explain if I'm wrong. Now I'll try to go to sleep again. If you believe in ...

Good point, but one I'd answer with this- the statistical possibilities of the forces beyond our control affecting our universe are zero. One over infinite, remember? A period of time on this earth is infinitesimal (a number) compared to how long everything (again, broad sense) has been around ...

Yes, there are an infinite amount of things you could do tomorrow. However, the time in which you may do them is limited.

If tomorrow was infinite, then an infinite amount of different things would happen. Given an infinite amount of time, everything MUST happen.

Though I must admit that I ...

I say virtually only because I think that there does have to be a single truth. So that truth is one in an infinite number of possibilities. And saying what happens tomorrow is extremely vague. If you mean "on this earth," then there is a finite number of possibilities. But statistically the guess ...

OnlyAmbrose will most likely give you an answer, but here's mine:

There isn't an infinite number of things that you could possibly do tomorrow. You are limited in what you can do. Moreover, you are driven to eat, therefore you will most likely eat. In the infinite possibilities of reality, there ...

I don't know. If we're talking influence the Beatles and Beethoven are up there, but strictly music, hmmm, probably Nirvana, though I really think we should break this up into categories. Otherwise you might just say, "who is your favorite band?"

If you tossed a coin for all of eternity, and given an endless amount of trials, then yes- I have no doubt that it would eventually turn into a flower on the way down. In the words of Isaac Asimov, when you are dealing with the infinite, "Anything can happen... anything MUST happen..." Yet at the ...
