Re: Land and Sea [Quenched]

Hi folks! I'm not sure if this thread is dead but I'll write in anyway.

I'm considering a return to CC very soon, and have just been browsing the maps to see what's been happening for the last year. This map looked interesting, but at first glance, I was not sure if NA1 and AT3 are allowed to ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp [Quenched]

Interesting.

Special thanks to Doc Brown for clarifying the legal system in the USA.

I must admit, I was not certain of the legal system there, and based my argument on the British legal system, in the expectation that it was similar.

I must express incredulity that such a system is allowed to ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp [Quenched]

Yes Natty: I very much appreciate that.

However, these fears are largely unfounded. Conquer Club is very much a reality and Hasbro have been unable to do anything about it for the very reasons I have presented. Indeed, any lawyer worth his salt would advise them of the simple legal position: that ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp [Quenched]

Thankyou for such a quick response Natty. -I am impressed. And I appreciate the concerns over copyright.

I also understand copyright laws reasonably well.

Obviously a map of the world is not a problem, so we can therefore remove that from any meaningful discussion. Furthermore, actual coastlines ...

Re: [Official] Classic Revamp [Quenched]

What a gigantic improvement over "Classic Shapes" and "Classic Art" this is! (Both of which were very poor imitations of the world!).

Whilst not wishing to get into the politics of the difficulties Conquer Club had with the original manufacturers of 'Risk', CC seems the ONLY site that found using a ...

Re: Strategy Guides Ad-Hoc Group

I'd be very interested in getting a few useful tips from some of the 'professionals' around here. I don't get to play a lot and tend to stick to clear, geographic maps with relatively simple themes. I am sure there are general principles which apply to most games but although I've had some success ...

Hehe. Nice one!

I hope someone grants your request. If what you say is genuinely true, I am very sorry to hear that you are in such a predicament.

Trying to make an acceptable map of this area is a courageous task! There is such passion about how borders should be drawn that if you manage to get agreement, you should become a politician! -Good luck!

There is a gradual improvement and clearly you are putting a lot of time and effort into this. However, I must agree with 'whitestazn88' that the legend is now too dominant.

Re: add sound effects to the game

Herakilla: If it is written as a user-script for Greasemonkey, it would only add loading time to those who'd decided to add it. Anyone who'd prefer to do without would not be affected at all.

Therefore, I say "let's have it as a choice, not to be forced upon anyone."

Yes, I can give an argument for sound.

If it is an add on you would not get it unless you wanted it. And I for one, would like it! -For people like you who do not want it, it would make NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL!

I take it all back! Haha... The randomness has bitten me again, and badly!

No doubt we all have similar stories but for those of you who think the dice are against you, beat this if you can:

33 attackers against 5 defenders. No contest I hear you say.

Yes, that's a good idea.

There can be no better example of that thinking than Conquer Club itself, which sits somewhere in the complexity of on line gaming of this immense world wide web. Conquer Club; a relative jungle of variations of its great but comparatively simple ancestor: Risk. Risk is ...

I like your idea.

In my opinion further complication would make it less appealing to many people, perhaps myself included! If your maps require extensive explanation, that could put people off.

An important philosophy of mathematics is that the most beautiful ideas are often the simplest.

Your update is a great improvement and I now understand the thing about Italy. But if Italy is not part of the game, does it need to be there at all? Why not simply remove it?

You ask about Crete being left in or not. I think it should stay because of it's strategical importance as borne out by ...
